In the Spring of 2009, during their inaugural season, the Patriots were seeking a location to play home games. At the time, Southern Pines Elementary School had an abandoned football field that was a grassless wasteland occupied by sandspurs and fire ants. The Patriots family came together to renovate the field and installed turf, goal posts, score board, and bleachers. Our field is now affectionately known as “The Mountain” — as dubbed by Charlotte Cowboy Coach John Hieth — due to its elevated playing surface. To the Patriots, The Mountain is a symbol of teamwork, commitment and dedication. Generous donations of time and materials by The Southern Landscaping Group and Sandhills Turf have made The Mountain possible, and players and parents help maintain the field on special work days throughout the year.
