MISSION STATEMENT The Sandhills Football Organization is committed to the development of the whole child, placing an emphasis on teaching football skills and strategy through teamwork, sportsmanship, character, and commitment.

About Us

In 2005, the Sandhills Optimist Club created a youth football league to serve the children of Moore County, North Carolina. The league included a flag division for ages 6-8 and a tackle division for ages 8-10. In 2007, the league expanded to include a tackle division for 11 and 12 year olds. At the conclusion of the 2007 season, the Optimist Club created an All Star Team which participated in several post-season tournaments.

In 2008, the Optimist’s All Stars captured the North American Youth Football Championships played in Charlotte, North Carolina for the 11 and 12 year old age group. At the conclusion of the 2008 season, the Patriots accepted aninvitation to join the Piedmont Youth Football League. Sandhills Patriots football organization is affiliated with the Sandhills Optimist and includes three teams, the Prep Team (ages 7-9), the Junior Varsity Team (ages 10-11) and the Varsity Squad (ages 12-13).

In its first season, the three teams had a combined regular-season record of 21-2 with both the Prep Team and the Varsity Team completing the regular season undefeated. The Varsity Team went on to win the Piedmont Youth Football League Super Bowl. In 2009, all three teams participated in post-season tournaments, with the Prep and Junior Varsity Teams both winning the North American Youth Football Championships in their respective age groups.
